Position No. 0005743. The Department of Economics in Dedman College of Southern Methodist University (SMU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. We are interested in candidates with a strong research focus in applied and theoretical econometrics and the ability to teach econometrics at all levels. The position is part of a larger, university-wide cluster hire in Data Science, supported by next-generation research computing technology that includes virtual and augmented reality and artificial intelligence, to engage multiple disciplines across campus. Under the umbrella of the O’Donnell Data Science and Research Computing Institute (https://www.smu.edu/provost/data-science-institute) of which several departmental faculty are affiliates, the cluster contains three interrelated groups: Data Core, Technology-Enhanced Immersive Learning (TEIL) and Health Analytics. Faculty in the Data Core group will augment and broaden SMU’s core capacities in data science. Faculty in the TEIL group will expand SMU’s growing capabilities in advancing technology’s role in the future of education. Faculty in the Health Analytics group will augment and broaden SMU’s core capacities in health analytics. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds.
Qualifications. Ph.D. in Economics or related field is required by August 1, 2025. Position start date is August 1, 2025.
