The Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is seeking to hire an experienced economist with a strong research record who is eager to contribute to the monetary policy advising process at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. A primary responsibility for this role is to serve as a collaborative member of the policy advising team and to help coordinate key aspects of the briefing process. In addition to supporting the monetary policy advising process, the economist in this role will also be expected to conduct high-quality academic and/or policy-oriented research. We are seeking candidates with a PhD and at least 5 years of post-PhD experience at an academic or policy institution.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Research Department supports the Bank President and Board of Directors in fulfilling their policy obligations through policy analysis and briefings. Research Department economists conduct scholarly research to enrich our understanding of the regional, national, and international economic and financial developments. Our economists provide briefings to the Bank President and contribute to policy discussions by drawing from their research and additional economic analysis to address policy-relevant questions. Our economists engage in academic discussions and debate presenting our research at conferences, seminars, and workshops, and System meetings. Our economists also regularly engage with business and community leaders from across the Atlanta Fed’s Sixth District to improve our understanding of the economy and to inform the monetary policy advising process.

The Department maintains an excellent research environment and provides substantial support for research and travel. The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is the site of the Atlanta Federal Statistical Research Data Center, which provides restricted access to non-publicly available Census data.
